Solar Jars for Evening Picnics

I was absolutely thrilled when Consol Glass launched their new Solar Jars, the perfect accessory for an evening picnic. I love the fact that the product is re-usable and windproof. No more stressing about windy nights destroying your perfect evening picnic ambiance.

Safely housed in their beautiful 1-litre Consol Classic preserve jar, which provides a practical and attractive casing for the functional product, this alternative light source is literally bottled sunshine. Solar powered LED lights are powered by sunlight which is harnessed through solar panelling fitted on the lid.

There are some wonderful ways to incorporate these Solar Jars in your setting for your Al Fresco dining event. I love this idea found on www.theconfettiblog.co.za

If you want to get some of these jars you can visit the Consol shops in Stellenbosch or Woodmead. They cost R 120 each. For more information visit www.consol.co.za.

10 Essential Items to pack for the Perfect Picnic

Often when you start packing for a picnic outing you get so focussed on the food and drinks that you forget the smaller items. There is nothing worse than arriving at your picnic destination, ready for a day of relaxation and you realise you have forgotten the bottle opener and you have to try to open the wine bottle with your teeth. We have put together a list of 10 essential items to always remember when packing for the perfect picnic.

1) Blanket - yip this can easily be forgotten and is merely there to make your picnic experience more comfortable.
If you are in need of a new picnic blanket, you can visit Picnic South Africa Online Shop and purchase a new colourful picnic blanket.

2) Sun Screen - these days you can not leave the house without this especially if you have children that is going on the picnic with you.
3) Hat - although you have the sun screen, a hat is always welcome to provide some shade and extra protection
4) Plates and cutlery - this can be disposable to make the weight lighter.
5) Cork Screw - yip if you want to have a refreshing cider or nice glass of wine and you forget this item, you will have to get very creative to open the bottle.
6) Enough Water - it is always important to stay hydrated especially if you are planning to be outside for a long time.
7) Glass Spike - to prevent your champers or wine from tumbling over and spilling on the blanket or worst yet, waste your last glass of bubbly. This has happened to the best of us before.
This is a picnic must have. To get your own glass spike now, visit Picnic South Africa.

8) Tupperware - you will need containers to take the leftovers home. None of us like wasting food.
9) Rubbish Bag - it is essential that we tread lightly when we are out in nature and never leave a trace. Pack all your picnic rubbish in this bag and dispose of it at home. We all like to find a picnic spot that is clean, so consider our beautiful environment and your fellow picnickers.
10) Camera - to capture all the memorable moments.

New York Picnic Wedding by Ruffled

In my quest to find beautiful picnic wedding inspirations I found this stunning DIY New York Picnic Wedding.

"We had always envisioned people lounging around on blankets, playing cards and field games, dancing and frolicking, but we also wanted to balance the casual vibe with a sophisticated look."
Delia - Bride

I love the idea of face painting at a wedding and the pickle jars, so original.
